Interpretation of Detected Gas Composition

The system complies with IEEE C57.104 and IEC 60599 standards, enabling accurate identification of fault types based on gas composition:

  • CH4, C2H6, C2H4, C2H2 → Thermal condition involving the oil
  • H2, CH4, C2H2, C2H6 → Partial Discharge
  • H2, C2H2, C2H4 → Sustained arching
  • CO, CO2 → Thermal condition involving the paper

L-PAS vs. Conventional IR Spectroscopy

Advanced LPAS Technology

  • The spectral line width of the laser light source is 15 fm (0.000015 nm), precisely aligned with the absorption spectral line
  • Virtually no cross-interference between gases
  • Extremely narrow spectral lines with high concentration of light energy
  • Higher sensitivity for gas detection with accuracy levels of 0.1 PPM
  • Excellent data repeatability with small fluctuations and long-term stability

Conventional IR Spectroscopy

  • Output spectrum remains wide (> tens of nanometers) even after filtration
  • Wide bandwidth causes excitation of multiple gases leading to cross-interference
  • Lower concentration of light energy reduces detection accuracy
  • Significant data fluctuations and limited stability over time
