【Case】Research and Application of Remote Point-to-Point Technology in Smart Substations

The DMA-1000 Substation Monitoring Information Full-Link Acceptance System is a monitoring information acceptance tool developed based on the IEC61850 and IEC104 protocols. It is applicable to smart substations or conventional substations with IEC61850 communication, and can be used in newly-built substations of various voltage levels as well as reconstruction and expansion projects. The system features synchronous acceptance of remote terminal units and monitoring backends, and realizes intelligent or automatic point-to-point verification of monitoring information at both substation and master station ends. Automated acceptance greatly improves the efficiency of monitoring information acceptance for smart substations, enables full-loop and full-information acceptance of monitoring information, reduces work intensity and shortens commissioning periods.

Field Application

A 220kV smart substation has been put into operation. On-site, protection setting verification and test joint commissioning were completed through point list-based point-to-point verification. It was verified that the point-to-point device controls the output of the relay protection tester, the tester is connected to the protection device to automatically generate test schemes, automatic testing is set, and the line distance protection outlet test is completed.

Test Process

  1. Import the point list into the point-to-point device to display filtered test points for protection tests; import the SCD file to display the models and names of all IED devices in the substation.
  2. Conduct a full-substation scan to complete keyword matching between the point list and the SCD file; manually match the unmatched test points if necessary.
  3. Generate test schemes and classify all test items of the same IED device.
  4. Start the point-to-point test for the tested IED device, and control the relay protection device to conduct tests in the sequence of the generated test schemes.
  5. Automatically judge whether the test item is completed based on the collected IEC104 messages of the remote terminal unit, and finally generate a test report.

Technical Features

The simulation host adopts the Linux system to ensure the security of information access and the stability of the system.

Supports MMS and IEC104 communication protocols, and is fully applicable to smart substations and conventional substations with IEC61850 communication.

Adopts a multi-process management mode, supports simultaneous simulation of multiple devices, and can simulate more than 200 IED devices at the same time.

Has an online CID file verification function, which can read MMS model files and SCD files online for comparison, and verify the consistency of control blocks, protection settings, parameter settings and remote control models in the test report.

Features log storage and security audit functions, which can record and store information such as successful user login, failed user login, user logout, user addition, user deletion and user permission modification.

Supports simultaneous simulation of devices and analog dispatch master stations; realizes automatic closed-loop verification of the forwarding table configuration of remote terminal units by sending MMS and receiving IEC104 messages, and automatically generates test reports.

Supports the analog IEC104 master station function, realizes synchronous acceptance of information between remote terminal units and monitoring backends, and verifies the consistency between remote configuration and substation signals.

Supports the simulation of protection and measurement & control devices; one-click triggers signals such as alarms, protection events and switch status in the devices, and sends MMS messages.

Realizes intelligent verification or automatic point-to-point verification of remote signals and remote measurements according to the sequence of the regulation information list.

Automatically generates test schemes to control point-to-point loop verification, automatically controls the output of source signals of measurement & control and protection devices, and conducts joint automatic acceptance with the master station.
