During special patrols, it is necessary to check the accuracy of the input signals of protection devices, conduct special verification of protection setting values and press plates, and sign and save the confirmation. In daily maintenance, it is required to check the correctness of the sampling values of various protection and automation devices, and inspect and verify the press plates monthly, which consumes a great deal of time and energy of on-site personnel. The functions of the BDZ-60 Handheld Visual Operation & Maintenance and One-click Patrol Device are divided into three parts: conventional substation, smart substation and common tools, which are applicable to the protection setting value verification and daily maintenance of conventional substations and smart substations before commissioning.

The smart substation part mainly includes visualization, verification patrol and report management.

The visualization report includes visualization of station control layer network architecture, visualization of optical fiber link diagram, visualization of virtual terminals, SCD visual verification, SCD visual comparison and visualization of test process.

The verification patrol mainly includes setting value verification, press plate patrol, electrical quantity (telemetry) information monitoring, switch quantity monitoring, protection action information, protection alarm information, etc.

Report management can generate all patrol reports with one click and manage the reports, confirming that all patrol and verification work has been carried out and reviewed.

Operation Process of the Smart Substation Part

1. Import SCD After importing the SCD, the program parses the relevant information, automatically determines the IEDs that need to be inspected and verified, and generates the station control layer network structure diagram, the whole station optical fiber link diagram, the virtual terminal diagram and the SCD verification diagram.
2. Access the Station Control Layer Network It can access the station control layer switch to obtain the station control layer data of the whole station protection, or directly collect the information of a single protection device, only needing to configure the corresponding IP according to the actual situation.
3. Setting Value/Press Plate Modeling The verification of setting values and press plates needs to be compared with the dispatching setting value list as the standard value, so it is necessary to establish the standard value template of setting values and press plates in advance. The standard value template can be created in four ways: importing excel setting value list, manual input, reading the current value of the protection device as the standard template, and importing historical template. The modeling operation only needs to be performed once, and the template will not be lost when the device is powered off or the substation template is switched.
4. Start the Test The program can start the patrol and verification according to the automatically judged IED devices, or carry out the patrol and verification according to the manually selected IED devices. The entire patrol process is displayed in a graphical way, so that the current patrol equipment and verification status can be clearly seen.
5. Generate Reports According to the patrolled IEDs, the corresponding reports and operation data can be automatically generated, including setting value verification reports, press plate verification reports, electrical quantity information, switch quantity information, protection action information, protection alarm information and other various reports and operation data. At the same time, it manages the reports, and intuitively reflects the event time, action, result and review status.

The conventional substation part mainly includes the function of importing setting value lists in various formats, hard press plate verification function and setting value verification function.

Import of Setting Value Lists in Various Formats: At present, most of the daily operation and maintenance setting value lists of newly commissioned substations are in PDF format. The software supports the entry function of setting value lists in PDF and excel formats, which are automatically saved as standard values after entry.

Hard Press Plate Verification: Based on image recognition technology, it automatically compares and verifies the status of hard press plates and generates verification results.

Setting Value Verification: Based on the read standard values and the current values read from the protection device, the verification is carried out and the verification results are automatically generated.

Taking a 220kV smart substation as an example, the substation has 2 main transformers, 2 220kV bus differential protections, 1 220kV bus tie, 1 220kV section, 4 220kV lines and 10 110kV lines. In the past, it took 1–2 days to conduct patrol and verification of the setting values and press plates of the whole station, as well as inspect the secondary information such as protection telemetry, switch quantity, action and alarm.
