The intelligent terminal is a key component for realizing the intellectualization of smart substations. In the smart substation system, the intelligent terminal is connected to primary equipment via cables and to secondary equipment such as protection and measurement & control devices via optical fibers, realizing the measurement and control of primary equipment. At present, during the operation of smart substations, the detection of intelligent terminals is not intuitive due to factors such as the lack of screen display on intelligent terminals, digitization of switch quantity information and complex wiring of switch quantities.

To this end, Wuhan Haomai Electric Power has developed a GOOSE to hard output conversion device based on the IEC61850 protocol. It performs GOOSE conversion without affecting the original communication link and simulates the GOOSE to hard output conversion of intelligent terminals. The device conveniently and comprehensively simulates the correctness of the GOOSE sending and receiving mechanism, GOOSE channel configuration, and the action feedback time and resolution of the input/output hard contacts of intelligent terminals, realizing the visualized detection of intelligent terminals.

1 Software Operation

1.1 PCAP or SCD File Import and Mapping

1. Click "PCAP Import" or "SCD Import" and select the PCAP file to import.
2. Check the GOOSE messages to be sent with configuration in the "Selection" column.
3. Select the channel mapping to the hard output of the device in "Hard Output Mapping", and each channel can only be mapped to a unique hard output terminal.

1.2 Network Configuration

1. Click "Network Configuration", select the network card and open the UDP port.

2. After opening the port, click "Close Window" in the upper right corner.

1.3 Configuration Issuance

1. Ensure the device power is on; the flashing "Run" indicator light indicates normal operation.
2. Connect the computer to the device with a network cable to ensure normal communication.
3. Click "Issue Configuration"; the "Parse" indicator light will flash for 2 seconds after the device receives the information.

2 Hardware Operation

2.1 Message Reception

1. Connect the optical fiber to the corresponding port for receiving GOOSE messages. The "Parse" light flashes once for each correct message received.
2. Connect to the hard output terminals and link with external equipment.

3. The device captures GOOSE state change information and drives the corresponding switch quantity to act; check the front panel indicator lights to confirm the action of the switch quantity.

The application of the GOOSE to hard output conversion device solves the problem of inconsistent interfaces between intelligent secondary equipment and traditional secondary equipment, maximizes the "data sharing" function of intelligent secondary equipment, and makes the control of conventional secondary equipment by intelligent equipment more convenient. Converting important GOOSE information into the form of hard contacts makes on-site commissioning and fault troubleshooting more intuitive and convenient, greatly improving the efficiency of on-site maintenance.
